About Us

EXR began as Extraordinary Rendition Manchester Musicians’ Collective in February 2006 and was nicknamed EXR by its members. Initially an Open Mic/Jam night based in Chorlton, south Manchester, run by a large group of musicians, it expanded to a number of live music nights around Manchester.

Members’ different skills and experience further extended its focus to the provision of bands, musicians and equipment to bars clubs and festivals. The collective grew to  include graphic artists, sound and lighting engineers, film makers, photographers and promoters.

In 2008 we launched the ALL FM unsigned show, now broadcast fortnightly on a Monday, between 9pm and 11pm on 96.9FM. This programme showcases local artists and other promotional organisations, as well as reviewing and providing information about live music in Greater Manchester.

Today EXR’s headquarters are at Brunswick Mill in Manchester city centre. This location houses a number of rehearsal rooms.

Archive footage of some EXR activity caught over the years can be found here.
